This week in reading we are learning to try find questions in the text. This is my slideshow that has all my 15 questions and here is the book. Try figure out some of the questions yourself it could be kind of challenging but I hope you like !
My Poem
Imagine a disgusting room filled with cockroaches everything broken and is incapable to live no one bothered to clean it. Gross right well here is a poem that I wrote about a photo I saw. Over the past weeks we have been learning about poems and schemes within the poems.
The room starts to rumble
The ceiling began to crumble
Smelling mould
I start to get a cold
Everything’s broken
And it can’t be spoken
Disgusting floors
Covered in paint
Broken draws
I wanted to faint

Reflection over the year
This year has been epic this is my last year of intermediate and it has been my best year yet. I have just started this school this year and I am really happy I have met really good people. I really like my home class because we all bond together and we have a wonderful home teacher Mr Wiseman!!
One of my favourite things that has happened this year is going out of sports days and having sports every Friday. I like that Miss Va'afusaga our sports teacher is really nice and caring. She helps everyone improve in everything and always has a smile. you can go visit the sports blog
My favourite subject is Maths because I like working with numbers and moving to a different class and working with other people. My favourite thing of maths is algebra because I like working with the alphabet and numbers together.

No one's Race
This week we are writing about recounts there is a photo we have to write about and write of one of the contestants and there perspective.
I was surprised that I came first but also relieved because all the contestants had done it a one kilometer run we all clapped hands and yelled “We did it” .
As I walked to the starting line a hard long running track I already had sweat dripping down my face it didn’t help that it was a hot sunny day. A huge crowd around me at the panathenaic stadium to know who would win the race.
My stomach was filled with butterflies aching just wanting this race to finish already. The smell of body odour throughout all the contestants it was horrifying , Also hearing their heartbeats pounding and pounding .
First the gunshot went off and everyone started to run gently trying not to slow down and let anyone past. Then we all began to run a little faster wanting to get past the finish line I was coming second pacing and pacing myself.
Then I began to speed up because the contestant behind me was slightly beginning to overtake me.But I wouldn’t let him the finish line felt like a mile away so I tried to catch up with the contestant coming first.
After that I was coming a tie with the contestant who was coming first. Fifty meters away hearing the loud footsteps coming from behind me so I speed up and then I saw the contestant I was running off starting to slow down.
Finally I sprinted all the way past the finish line I felt really relieved because I made it and I came first. The crowd yelling my name was awesome and all the contestants were still happy they actually made it too.I was surprised that I came first but also relieved because all the contestants had done it a one kilometer run we all clapped hands and yelled “We did it” .

How to prevent yourself from getting sick
This term we have being learning explanation writing. Explanation writing is something you write about and you have to explain why and this weeks topic is how to prevent yourself from getting sick . These are my three main ideas and reasons how to prevent yourself from getting sick .
Winter is here and with winter comes sickness being sick is not very nice so it is important we look after ourselves. So that we don't get sick and make others sick . The following paragraphs I am going to be talking about is how to prevent yourself from getting sick and reasons why.
One of the easiest ways of staying healthy is eating a balanced range of food. This means eating from the 5 food groups with a focus on fruits and vegetables. If you do that then your body will receive all the nutrients it needs to be in the best condition to fight off invading germs.
One of the best ways to prevent yourself from getting sick is not sharing food or drinks that you have already eaten or drunk. This means you should not share food or a drink that you have already eaten or drunk. If you do that then it would stop you and another people from getting sick and sharing germs with them.
Another way to prevent yourself from getting sick is not touching public toilets and other public objects. This means being careful of what you touch in public so that you don't get germs from other people touching it. If you do that then you wouldn't have any germs and would prevent yourself from getting sick .
So those are my three main ideas and reasons that will prevent yourself from getting sick. If you do those three ideas you will have a good and healthy life . I hope you enjoy your life and keep it nice and healthy.

My Learning
This week in literacy we have been writing about how to prevent yourself from getting sick. Firstly, we started to write and introduction and conclusion and then we had a group discussion with the teacher . I learnt that one of the best ways to prevent yourself from getting sick is to not share your food or drinks that you have already eaten or drunken because it can cause sickness which is one of my paragraphs in my writing.
Secondly, I saved the best for last my favourite subject maths . This week we are learning about Algebra , algebra is a maths topic it connects with the alphabet we are trying to find out what algebra is and how it can help us. Other things we learnt in maths this week was positive and negatives . Positive and negatives are like adding and subtracting but a little bit more difficult. For example -45 + x = 76 we have to try and find out what the x is so you add 45 + 76 because it is a negative and it equals 121 so that is the answer is the x . There is a lot more questions that I will show and you can try figure them out.

Paraphrasing
This week we are learning how to make a cipher wheel and paraphrasing , what is paraphrasing
? paraphrasing is when you read something and re-writing it into our own words . Why is it helpful? it helps us comprehend what we are learning . I have learnt that we need to paraphrase so that I can understand about what I am reading . I made my cipher wheel and my friend Liz deciphered it , it was really tricky .

Future Aspirations
Yesterday morning Marcus Winter also known as the Sandman and Louis Gordan-Latty came to our school and showed us a bit of what they do in there time .Marcus Winter is a professional sand artist , he started off on the streets of Auckland City . He had a awesome talent which he did not really notice so he thought bigger and went a long way . He went over sea's and on a lot of big ship's he was also on television.
He struggled in school he thought he was cool because he would always go to a special class, but then he realized in intermediate that the special class was for people who needs to catch up on work because they are falling behind they need to learn a bit more so they can be normal .My favourite quote of his was "Bro- you got bounced" it meant that you had being rejected from something . Marcus told us about his story of being bounced because he applied for plenty of jobs. And did he get accepted to any of them? no he did not but then there was one job where he did it was a artist job and that's how it all started.
After that Louis Gordan-Latty talked to the year 7 & 8 block he was a technology and basketball person. He started playing basket ball when he was 8-10 years old he thought of something he loved and thought of something to do of technology it took him along time to figure it all out then he made it. It was a app that could record you playing any type of game and shows your scored and the recording to your whole game that's really COOL ! .
