Word Problems

This week we are learning algebra and word problems Miss Clark gave Octagons and Hexagons a presentation to figure out and highlight our answer and this is my presentation.

Fractions

This week we have been learning about fractions , and division . This is my favourite subject this week has been testing week and I am really nervous for my maths test.

This is my thinkboard this week is subtracting decimals we have been learning these thinkboards for this whole year so that we can learn better.

This term my maths class is reflecting about subtraction , addition , multiplication and division . This week its addition and this is my think board  about adding , the strategy I used was subtraction I subtracted 2.13 - 0.89 and that's how I got my answer.

My Learning

This week in literacy we have been writing about how to prevent yourself from getting sick. Firstly, we started to write and introduction and conclusion and then we had a group discussion with the teacher . I learnt that one of the best ways to prevent yourself from getting sick is to not share your food or drinks that you have already eaten or drunken because it can cause sickness which is one of my paragraphs in my writing.

Secondly, I saved the best for last my favourite subject maths .  This week we are learning about Algebra , algebra is a maths topic it connects with the alphabet we are trying to find out what algebra is and how it can help us. Other things we learnt in maths this week was positive and negatives . Positive and negatives are like adding and subtracting but a little bit more difficult. For example -45 + x = 76 we have to try and find out what the x is so you add 45 + 76 because it is a negative and it equals 121 so that is the answer is the x . There is a lot more questions that I will show and you can try figure them out.

Addition Triangle

This is my triangle decimal addition that we have being learning over the past two terms , we have to add all the decimals to make the top of the triangle . Our number this week is 17.843

Today is the first day of term 3 and we have started maths , This week we are learning decimals , Thinkboards and Decimal additions . The number we had today was 12.456 I did this all in less than 10 minutes .

Tamaki Talk

This morning six year nine's and Mrs Moore from Tamaki College came to talk to us about Tamaki College , They were telling us the experience of being in College . They were telling us what we do and there favourite subjects and other stuff , Most of the year nines favourite subjects were P.E , because most of them loved sports. The hardest things that they disliked was Science . My favourite part I liked was when our year eights asked them questions , and some of them were a bit tricky . 

Think Board 2

        

  This is my think board , I have learnt that everything is not perfect . Some things have remainders  like my answer . It has a remainder  of 8 . The strategy I have used is division and I have made a picture of my working out . I have put 10 similar questions in to . 

   

Triangle addition

 

This is my Triangle addition , Today in my maths class we learnt our Triangle addition . We had to add our decimals till it reached 3.518 , but we had to do it in separate parts . I had learnt that you have to learn your place values before you try doing this. After this I am going to be doing a think board and a presentations.
